Blue Blends, a vertically integrated textile manufacturing company is looking at 35 per cent increase in turnovers for 2013-2014. The company is completely focused on exports and 70-75 per cent of its business is in exports. As Ravi Shankar Singh, CEO, Blue Blends explains, “The market is bad this particular year and we are totally focused on exports. Either we are exporting our fabric directly or catering to garment exporters within India, which is definitely our clear cut plan. Not many units are comfortable selling goods in domestic markets.” Blue Blends exports to Europe, US, South America, Bangladesh, Israel and Sri Lanka. “We are also selling a lot of fabrics to European garment exporters based in India. That is also exports, as that fabric is not going to the domestic market. You can call it deemed exports,” added Singh. The production is tailor made and order based production, once the order is booked, production begins.
Capacity Expansion Plan
Blue Blends is also keen to expand its capacity by 30 million metres which is currently at 20 million metres and plans to execute it by 2014. It continues to develop and experiment with colours, textures, blends and constructions. It’s an ongoing activity for the brand. Blue Blends has been doing cotton and cotton Lycra kind of products. “We continue to experiment with Tencel, modal, linen but some trial works out and some does not, sometimes we are able to develop commercially viable and commercially feasible products and sometimes we are not able to do it, it is an ongoing exercise,” Singh points out.
The company uses a regular denim manufacturing line but within the available machinery it continues to use new technology in processing the products. “We carry out certain technological innovations within the line like we may change the sequence of processes, bypass some processes, increase or decrease temperatures, we may do it cold or hot etc,” added Singh.
