Indore-based regional office of Union ministry of textile has chalked out a strategy for boosting technical textile (non-woven fabric) on a large scale in the region. This segment requires lesser investment and has plenty of export potential.
Gaurav Gupta, Deputy Director from the regional office, said that recently a number of awareness initiatives have been undertaken for encouraging entrepreneurs for venturing into production of non-woven fabric.
Till now only close to two dozen units are producing such fabric in Indore and nearby areas.“The establishment of technical textile manufacturing unit is easier as it requires capital input of only Rs 20 lakh to 1.5 crore," said Gupta adding that such fabric also has immense export potential. The low cost fabric produced from non-woven technique is used in variety of articles such as bags, surgical mask and caps, seat covers, DVD covers, diapers, pillow cover, shoe covers etc. “The establishment of technical textile manufacturing unit is easier as it requires capital input of only Rs 20 lakh to 1.5 crore," said Gupta adding that such fabric also has immense export potential.
