The National Textile Corporation (NTC) will invest Rs464 crores in Andhra Pradesh for spinning and weaving project. At a high-level meeting held recently Union textiles minister K S Rao, has agreed to sanction 40 new proposals under group approach and 15 proposals under cluster approach in the areas not covered earlier.
A mega-cluster under comprehensive Handloom Development Scheme at Dharmavaram, Ananthapuram district will be considered in the next budget, the meeting agreed. The Union Minister informed that a proposal to bailout Handloom Park at Pochampally is being considered by the government of India and an official committee will workout the details.
Relaxation of norms under ‘Revival Reform and Restructuring (RRR)’ is under consideration of the Union Cabinet. Rao asked officials to send proposals for upgradation of obsolete powerlooms in Siricilla in Karimnagar district and Nagari in Chittoor district. He has also agreed to set up a Centre of Excellence for Technical Textile fabric Sector in Andhra Pradesh and requested to allot required land for this project.
